Chief Edmiaston joined the Lexington Police Department in May of 2023. He began his Law Enforcement career with the Normal IL Police Department and graduated from the University of Illinois Police Training Institute in 1994. During his career at NPD he served as a patrol officer, bike patrol officer, gang crime specialist, Detective in both general investigations and narcotic investigations, Master Firearms Instructor, Taser Instructor, Less Lethal Instructor, Emergency Response Unit Team Leader, and Internship Director. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2004 and over the next 10 years supervised the Vice/Narcotics Unit, Criminal Investigations Division and patrol shifts. In 2014 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, commanding patrol shifts and the Criminal Investigations Division. Chief Edmiaston is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (ILACP), the FBI National Academy Associates (FBINAA) and is an active supporter of the Special Olympics of Illinois, regularly participating in fundraisers such as the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and Cop on a Rooftop.

Chief Edmiaston grew up in southern Illinois. He attended Western Illinois University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement Administration in 1993. In 2005, he graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command in Evanston Illinois. Chief Edmiaston attended the FBI National Academy Session 281 in Quantico, VA and graduated in March 2022. Chief Edmiaston is married and has 5 children.
